Making Doll Shoes
It could be fun and economical to design doll shoes from home without needing to apply to stitch and still produce good looking shoes. Stitching can be quite complicated if one does not know how to do so and a method that does not need stitching is better. To begin the process, you have to get several items and materials that are usually found easily and at low prices as well. The materials needed are vinyl which is not expensive and is also easy to find but you should not use costume vinyl due to being too flimsy. Being sturdy and strong makes leather straps a perfect choice for making the doll shoes for those who would prefer leather than vinyl.
Several types of trims can be used in making doll shoes such as braided trims, sequin trims and other trims. Cereal or cookie cardboards and six millimeter foams will also be needed to make the doll shoes. Glue is also necessary and a glue stick that will help when placing the glue and it is important to use them sparingly so as not to create unwanted residues in the shoes. Rubber cement can be optionally used while taking caution to use it in well-aerated rooms to protect yourself from the effects. The materials could be hard to cut or bore into and requires leather punchers, scissors and a hobby knife to cut them easily. A pair of shoelaces that can either be ribbon or poly cord laces depending on what you prefer between the two.
The first step is to cut all the pattern pieces including cardboard, vinyl, and foam into desired size and width. Using a leather punch, boreholes into the uppers made from leather straps and any cut-outs can be removed using the hobby knife. The next step is to stick the vinyl and cardboard soles together using the glue and ensure that they are properly glued. Next, glue the front upper to the upper cardboard sole and wrap the material around the sole while cutting small pieces to make the sole flat. The upper part needs to be glued together to the back part of the shoe and sticking the cardboard soles to the vinyl.
Pick the respective foams and apply hot glue and then glue them together with the uppers while pressing them to ensure they leave no gaps. Cover the foam using trims by gluing them together and confirm that the two are tightly glued by pressing. To close the shoes, you need to resize the trims through cutting and once it is looking great, apply glue onto the endings and press to close. Molding the shoes is easier when a doll leg is used.
